I'm going to see her speak live on Friday, so I thought it would be nice to see what she has to say on various subjects related to writing. This clip is an engaging look at character development. Enjoy.

Wow; what a compelling author. I don't blame you for going to see her. She would be interesting.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I feel setting can have strong personality tool. Some settings just feel like they should be a character. I’m not good at animal characterizations, but I’m fascinated by the process.
You will post a review of her workshop, right? I'd be interested to know what you got out of the viewing.

Absolutely Donna. I hadn't thought about posting a review, but now that you mention it... certainly!!!
ReplyDeleteAs you may have seen from my posts here, I often personify setting and nature in particular because they have their own story to tell.
In response to what Ms. Oates had to say about animals, my cat has a verrrrry strong personality. In my house, she might as well BE human!!
